The story revolves around a 19 year old girl who has lived a very sheltered life having been born with a heart with only one ventricle. She has spent most of her life not being like the other children and being constantly monitored by her over protective mother. As a result, Vida, is very honest and has a different view on life, because as she says, she knows she’s going to die soon.

This all changes when she gets a heart in a heart transplant. The heart belonged to Lorrie, Richards wife. He finally meets Vida a short time after the transplant when Vida immediately falls in love with him. At that point I felt the story could become a bit perverse – The character Vida is portrayed as a small childlike 19 year old while Richard is a 30 something year old man, so you can understand why I thought it might become a bit perverse!

The story doesn’t proceed how you expect it to though and Vida begins to grow up. There are many things you don’t expect to happen and I think the end of the book (which I wont give away) was an absolutely perfect way to finish such a charming story.

The book is written in diary form, by Vida at first then Richard begins to write a journal of events from his point of view too. The story is based around the idea of cellular memory, the cells of lorries heart remembering their love for Richard and as a result of this Vida falls in love with Richard too.

I’m not usually into soppy love stories, but this wasn’t soppy at all. I think the science takes away the romanticism for me – which is a good thing. If you don’t like soppy romance books you will definitely like this but if you love romance books that will make you cry you probably wont appreciate this as much.

Recently, in a large city in Australia, a poster featuring a young, thin and tan woman appeared in the window of a gym. It said, “This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?”

A middle-aged woman, whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster, responded publicly to the question posed by the gym.

To Whom It May Concern,

Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, sea lions, curious humans.) They have an active sex life, get pregnant and have adorable baby whales. They have a wonderful time with dolphins stuffing themselves with shrimp. They play and swim in the seas, seeing wonderful places like Patagonia, the Bering Sea and the coral reefs of Polynesia.

Whales are wonderful singers and have even recorded CDs. They are incredible creatures and virtually have no predators other than humans.

They are loved, protected and admired by almost everyone in the world.

Mermaids don’t exist.

If they did exist, they would be lining up outside the offices of Argentinean psychoanalysts due to identity crisis. Fish or human? They don’t have a sex life because they kill men who get close to them, not to mention how could they have sex? Just look at them… where is IT?

Therefore, they don’t have kids either.

Not to mention, who wants to get close to a girl who smells like a fish store?

The choice is perfectly clear to me: I want to be a whale.

P.S. We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids, a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver, and a piece of chocolate with my friends.

With time, we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room, it distributes out to the rest of our bodies. So we aren’t heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy.

Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, “Good grief, look how smart I am!”

I just have to finish reading Swiss Family Robinson and I’ll make a start on this! Its completely not my usual style so I may hate it. We’ll see!

Its an exciting copy too!

Oh how excited I was. I’d only ever heard my frogs sing a few times before and I thought horay frogspawn – tadpoles and baby frogs!
I was more excited when I though aha I can set up a new tank. (I love new tanks!) and that’s what I did. I went to pets at home and bought some sand.

I got out the hose pipe and rinsed and rinsed and rinsed until the sand was clear enough.

Then I repositioned the 17l tank and put the new tank in its place. (which isn’t the place in the photo!)

I bought this tank from a lovely lady on Fish Forums. She even gave me two baby bristlenoses. The netting is to stop the cats getting in

Now a clever trick for how to fill up a fish tank without clouding the water (much).

• Dunk all your sand into the tank.
• Place a plastic bag over the sand
• Place a big glass bowl on top of the plastic bag
• Begin filling

This way you can fill it up quickly and vigorously without the sand clouding a great deal!

I used mature filter medium and water from my 6m/o tank and let it cycle for a few days before adding frogs.
I have a Mental Test Kit for monitoring the tank and its doing very well so far! Obv have to make a few more water changes than usual but I’m keeping an eye on it!

A week later, I added frogs. (and a bristlenose)

Unfortunately all this new space has gone to their heads because their stupider than ever! Everynight this week they’ve been trying out new positions but still no frogspawn. God knows the males are singing enough for that poor female. I’ll be getting a few more frogs soon

When I decide to go out for a meal or plan to buy something new I always always look for someway to get money off! I only buy things when their on offer you see. Its why I have three pots of vegan boullion – although it is impossible to find!

Having just graduated I know a lot about discount codes and actually (quite sadly) know the one for dominos off by heart (NRPHWAO) whether or not it still works I don’t know. Although its probably better to go here if you want real dominos discount codes as opposed to ones I remember from a few months back!

There are several restaurants that always have offers! Strada, Pizza Express and of course my favourite, pizza express voucher’s!

As you can probably tell I’m reviewing Voucher Hub. A site I’ve used quite often in the past my favorite thing being that you don’t have to go through some convoluted process in order to get the discount code, its right there on the page for you to try out quickly.

Its definitely worth stopping by and seeing what they have available before you make any purchases. You might just save yourself a few pennies.

We popped into Sandwich on Sunday, initially to go to my favorite tea room, ‘Sandwich Tea Rooms’ but they were closed so we went to the Crispinn instead.

If you’re ever in Ashford (Kent) look up Bybrook Barn. Next door to them is an American Diner that you just have to go to! The Wax and Fries (cheesy chips!) are awesome and the pancakes…well it took three of us to eat one!! The whole place was shipped over from the US a few years ago!

We took a trip to Faversham which I think is a lovely little town. The best part is the second hand video game shop it is AMAZING! Its helping me with my collection of game boys! Does anyone have a gameboy micro I could have for the journey to work!?

I go through phases of wearing different things although Greg bought me all of this lot. Both rings have a specific meaning for us.

I hunted high and low in the Trocadero for the only orange apple!! Its an apricot!
