Two eventful things have happened this week. The first being that I’m ill. This is surprising because I never get colds. Ever. I’m healthy mc healthasons! The second? I bought a new camera. The camera! The 5D Mk3.
I agonised for ages over whether I should get it, can I afford it? is it worth it? Do I need it? In the end I just decided to go for it. I sold my 550D and am grudgingly selling two more lenses. Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 USM Macro for £260 and Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II for £120 If anyones interested. As only EF lenses fit on the 5D body.
The past few weeks without my 550D I realised a few things. One, I need a decent camera to function, I didn’t realise how often I use it and two I really need to hone in on my type of photography. I’m a bit all over the place at the moment.
Anyway, heres the first few shots with the 5D. I bought the kit lens with it too. The 24-105mm L lens. Its a dream to use. I also have a my 50mm 1.8 which when my bank account recovers or most likely I drop it, I will replace with the 50mm 1.4 L. They were all just taken around the house after dark with really bad lighting. Lighting my 550D would have turned around to me and said “no way I’m not even going to bother focusing on that, I’m going to sit here and not take photos”.
Desk photos! I rearranged my room last weekend in my tidying frenzy.
Obligatory cat photos. I’m sad I never got to take any photos of Princess with it but at least I can capture Smudges cute wide eyes in low light now.
The Self portrait and flower photo.
Best of all is this photo. Just a quick snapshot into the pitch black driveway. This photo isn’t edited at all apart from a slight vignette The camera saw more than I could! This wasn’t even setup, I just thought ‘Wonder how well it copes in low light’ and took the photo you see above.
And now I have to relearn everything I knew about photography!
