Fish…Dying

IMG_0010.JPG_effected

What have I done!?

I’ve lost a guppy, I found its head Wednesday morning, thank you shrimps, thimps*

I’ve lost the Clown Loach. Who admitedly had looked very ill for months, and who should have been in a group but my dad wouldn’t part with him and we are overstocked as it is.

I’ve also lost all my Gertrudes Blue Eyes, no bodies yet…..The shrimp must have gotten to them.

On the plus side I’m getting down to a manageable level of fish now.

Fish island!
Tehe Fish Island!
I’ve been getting used to getting Buses in london, I love that they tell you the name of the stop your at! Wish all buses did that!

Snog
Snog
My first trip to Snog. Frozen Yoghurt is very hard to come by in the UK! if anyone wants to open one in Walton and one near Holborn that would be great!

Snog
Snog
I had Bittersweet Dark Chocolate, with Strawberries and Mochi! I loved it!

Snog
Greg had Oreos and little chocolate hearts, he didn’t like it :( I’d have eaten his too if we hadn’t gone for regulars!!

Trinity Buoy Wharf
In the afternoon we went to Trinity Buoy Wharf which is an awesome place for artists and all sorts of creative types. You can rent a studio there which is a converted shipping container. Its right opposite the dome and they had a big day of arts and music! And a BBQ too!

Pizza Express
On Sunday we went into town and I bought way too many clothes in the sales, but I needed them, I struggled to find clothes for work last week. I find myself debating whether I can get away with smart jeans but I can’t quite bring myself to do it. I’ve always felt you should be smart for work but I hate being uncomfortable especially one the trains and buses!

I’ve been checking in a lot with FourSquare Its saved me from many boring train journeys this week!

I’m also recommending Camera + (app store link) I watched these videos by Lisa Bettany and immediately went to download it Turns out I already had it! I used it to edit all the photos on this blog post.

Dan Brown – The Lost Symbol

As I’m now officially a commuter I’ve easily finished reading my first book from the summer reading challenge I posted about here

Dan Brown, The Lost Symbol. I’ve read and enjoyed all of Dan Browns books, although some stand out as being much better than the others. This one I have mixed feelings about. I’m a slow reader at the best of times but this book seemed to go on forever!

The whole story takes place over a period of 10 hours. When certain events do take place you find yourself making silly expressions and noises while you try to read as quickly as you can to find out the next piece of the puzzle. Reading this book really did make for some tense moments!

I don’t wish to give away any of the plots twists and although some (especially for me at least having read all of Dan Browns other books) were predictable I was still shocked by some of the events in this book.

The story revolves around the Masons one of the most misunderstood ‘cults’ (for lack of a better word) and their protection of the Secret Mysteries. Unfortunately for the masons a sinister character has infiltrated their various levels and is after the lost symbol which will lead him to the secrets. Through a clever and gruesome series of events Robert Langdon, our famous professor is brought in on the action along with a few other characters who all have their roles to play in the complicated alliances and deceptions. Robert Langdon is in possession a piece of the puzzle, given to him by a dear friend and is caught right in the middle of it. There’s even a helicopter involved in this book!

As with all Dan Brown he combines fact and fiction in a way that you want to go out and research the information yourself to find out how true it all is. I love the way he presents views for certain arguments in his books which to me, makes it a very unbiased read but I’m sure others would disagree with me.

If your a fan or not of the Dan Brown books you really should try to read this, but if it is your first time reading a Dan Brown book read the Da Vinci code first, its by far the best in the series!

Rating: 4/5 Buy on Amazon.co.uk
Pros: Felt much more action packed than previous books. Some very tense moments and awesome twists with some unlikely allies
Cons: Slow to get started. I found myself skipping some blocks of text too

Canon EOS 550D Videos

Oh yes, I’m sure you’ve all been waiting for these the video feature on the 550D! Yes, I tested this on my Fish. I used my 60mm macro lens, so you can see how bloody difficult it is to focus on Clipper with the thing!

Clipper from Han on Vimeo.

Pluppies from Han on Vimeo.

Beginning with the pluppies, two fry that came from a guppy/platy pairing mother (which is supposidly impossible!) and the fathers will me one of three mickey mouse platys (only other livebearers in the tank) These fry are about 2-3 weeks old! (black marks already!)

Then we get to rosie the lady betta going ‘yum’ :D

and a Cherry Shimp for good measure

Canon EOS 550D

These last few weeks seem to have been all buy, new, buy, new for me! It must seem as though all I’ve done is buy and be bought things! Well I promise this is the last thing. I bought myself a Canon EOS 550D!

EOS550D18-55

It is awesome! My old 350D is still fantastic but you just can’t beat something new, modern and shiny. Not to mention it does video too, which is something I’ve been wanting to get into.

It has three new features on the twiddly dial thing that I’m still learning how to use, I find it difficult to leave my precious ‘P’ setting even though they’ve added an new auto mode minus flash. I’ve never used auto because it had flash enabled by default.

Some test photos, obviously of the cats!

So far the pros.
♥ Shiny and New
♥ Large screen makes previewing images so much easier, and photos look better
♥ VIDEO!! Although I keep forgetting it has this feature. And noone expects it to either! tehe *stealth filming*
♥ Buttons are in much better positions and the whole camera is perfect for my hand size!
♥ live view although I haven’t quite grasped how to focus very well in this mode but it still has its uses

The cons.
♥ Expensive!
♥ Its gonna take some getting used too, I still pick up my 350D out of habit.

Graduation

Following in a similar vein to The Fashion Cloud’s latest post, here are some photos from Graduation! (I had no idea she went to Kent the blogospehere is scary sometimes!)

My day didn’t just involve graduating as I first had to collect my award from Electronics! I didn’t want to wear my gown but my partner in crime made me!! So embarrassing – we were the only ones in those stupid outfits!

Here we are collecting our award on ‘stage’!

Then of course it was on with the day with the big ceremony in the Cathedral. It was long and boring!

Celebrating with team 8!
